Abstract:
To provide a surface treatment method for stainless steel where, though stainless, particularly, sulfur based free-cutting stainless steel such as SUS303 and SUS430 having a high sulfur content is used for securing its free-cutting, the surface of the stainless steel is worked, and the elution of sulfur comprised therein is suppressed.
As surface treatment for stainless steel, the surface of stainless steel is subjected to shot blast working. Then, the surface of the stainless steel is subjected to passivation treatment. In this way, the content of sulfur in the surface is reduced, and also, a protective film is formed, so as to suppress the elution of sulfur in a liquid.
