Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly improve the water resistance while keeping the coloring state of a printing at a high grade by coating a polymer of a monomer containing a specified N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide and a specified cationic monomer, on the surface of paper.
SOLUTION: On the surface of paper, a polymer of a monomer containing an N-vinylcaboxylic acid amide represented by a formula I, and a cationic monomer represented by a formula II and/or a formula III, is coated. In this case, in the formulas, R represents H or CH3; A represents O or NH; B represents C2H4, C3H6, C3H5OH; R1 represents H or CH3; R2, R3 represent alkyl groups with the number of carbon atoms, 1-4; R4 represents hydrogen, a methyl group or a benzyl group; and X- represents an anionic counter ion. By this method, a contradiction wherein when the water resistance is tried to be improved, a coloring after printing decreases, and when the coloring is tried to be improved, the water resistance decreases, is solved, and the usage as a paper for ink jet printing becomes possible.
