Abstract:
PURPOSE:To form ruggedness which exhibits a light interference effect on the free curved surface of a work by providing the ruggedness for embossing on the surface of a tool which surface comes into contact with the work and forming the surface provided with this ruggedness in such a manner that the surface can roll relative to the work. CONSTITUTION:The surface shape of the work 2 which is going to be formed with the ruggedness for light interference is taught from, for example, CAD/ CAM data or while the object surface is profiled, by which the tool 4 provided at the front end of an arm is controlled in locus while the contact thereof with the work 2 is maintained at all times. The surface provided with the ruggedness of the tool 4 rolls relative to the work 2. The locus taking rigidity into account is previously applied to moving means 5 to 8 in such a manner that the tool 4 acts pressures on the work 2. Then, the tool 4 comes into pressurized contact with the work 2 and the work 2 is plastically deformed by adequately selecting the hardness of the work 2 and the tool 4. The ruggedness provided on the tool 4 is transferred and formed in an inverted shape to the traces made after the tool 4 makes rolling motion. The light interference patterns are formed on the free curved surface in this way.
