The surfactant composition comprises an α-sulfo long-chain fatty acid alkyl ester salt and at least one kind of a nonionic surfactant represented by general formula (1) (R1 is a 9-21C branched-chain or straight-chain alkyl group or alkenyl group; A is hydrogen or a methyl group; B is hydrogen or a 1-3C alkyl group; n is an integer of 6-50). The amount of the nonionic surfactant is ≥5 mass % based on the total of the nonionic surfactant and the α-sulfo long-chain fatty acid alkyl ester salt.
