To obtain the subject surfactant capable of reducing a boundary tension of a hydrophilic material/CO2 composition for enabling the improvement of a water uptake with CO2 by adding an acetylene alcohol and an acetylene diol soluble in a liquid CO2/a supercritical CO2 and having a surface activity.
This surfactant used in a liquid CO2/a supercritical CO2 is an acetylene alcohol or diol of formula I and II [R, R1, R3, R4 are each independently H, a 1-34C linear or branched chain alkyl; R2, R5 are each independently H or a poly(alkyleneoxide) chain having a terminal hydroxy group derived from 1-20 alkylene oxide monomer units of formula III (R6 to R9 are each independently H, a 1-5C linear or branched chain alkyl or phenyl), which is added to CO2 as a surfactant for reducing a boundary tension between CO2 and CO2-phobic material. The above surfactant is preferably added in an amount of 0.01-30wt.% to CO2 based on a mixture of CO2/the surfactant.
