Abstract:
Provided is a surgical instrument that obviates the need for pressing until insertion to a predetermined location inside a biological duct to be treated, and requires a pressing operation only during treatment. A surgical instrument 1 is provided with a pair of forceps sections 112, 114 having a pair of foot sections 112a, 114a that are joined at a proximal end side and are elastically deformable in a direction of mutual approach and a direction of mutual separation, and distal end units 20 that are attached to distal ends of the pair of forceps sections 112, 114. The distal end units 20 are provided with a pair of expansion sections 212c, 214c for insertion into an opening in a biological duct to expand the opening; the pair of expansion sections 212c, 214c are at a closed position when not in use; and the pair of expansion sections 212c, 214c of the distal end units 20 separate from one another when the pair of foot sections 112a, 114a are deformed in the direction of mutual approach.
