To survey only a part of violent topographical change in whole objective area with fine pitches and attain an unmanned automatic high speed survey, by extracting characteristics from the image information in an object survey area obtained from a photographing device and referring to the characteristics extraction, and giving information specifying the distance measurement part to a distance measuring equipment.
Stereoscopic information of left and right image information in an object measurement area is obtained by a right CCD camera 10 and a left CCD camera 15 and distance measurement in which a reflection body is unnecessary is conducted with a nonprism laser distance measuring instrument 40. A image processor 20 extracts characteristics from the left and right image information to obtain a part capable of correlating both images. A processor 30, considering the part capable of correlating obtained with the image processor 20, gives distance measurement information to a horizontal angle controlling motor 32 and a vertical angle controlling motor 34 so as to measure the distance of part with large geographical change with a specific pitch, obtains the distance measurement information of the nonprism laser distance measuring instrument 40 and outputs to an output device 50.
