To provide a suspending agent not only capable of controlling the particle diameter of suspended particles but also making the produced suspended particles stably stay in the suspension layer without floating and hardly creaming.
The suspending agent comprises a polyalkylenepolyol derivative having a repeating unit U-1 defined by formula (1) and a repeating unit U-2 defined by formula (2) at U-1/U-2=(0.5/0.5) to (0.99/0.01) mole ratio and a water-soluble cellulose ether.In formulas (1) and (2), A is a divalent polyoxyalkylene residual group derived from a water-soluble polyalkylene polyol having hydroxy groups at least at both terminals and a number average molecular weight of 400 to 100,000 and defined as HO-A-OH: B is a divalent organic residual group derived from polyisocyanate having 3 to 18 carbon atoms in total and defined as OCN-B-NCO; and D is a divalent organic group derived from a dihydroxy compound selected from formulas (3) to (5).
