PURPOSE: To secure operational safety at fail time in a suspension device having a hydraulic cylinder and a gas spring communicating with its hydraulic chamber by providing the device with a damping means to damp the stroke of the cylinder when its stroke changes above its fixed range.
CONSTITUTION: A suspension device has a hydraulic cylinder 6 arranged between each wheel 4 and a car body 2 respectively, and a gas spring 16 is communicatingly connected to a hydraulic chamber 14 of each cylinder 6 through a communicating path 24. In this case, a rod 108 is protrusively provided at the center of the bottom plate 100a of an inner cylinder 100 of the cylinder 6, and extended concentrically with a cylinder body 8 toward the vertical middle of the chamber 14 to enable the upper end of the rod 108 to enter at the lower end of a hydraulic passage 98 in a piston rod 12 at a fixed interval. When the cylinder 6 extends or shortens above a fixed range, a large diametral part 108a of the rod 108 is made to correspond to the position of a communicating hole 12a of the rod 12 to damp the stroke of the cylinder 6.
