To provide a suspension insulator protected from chemical and electrochemical corrosion caused by leakage current flowing through a gap therein caused by moisture or the like, in order to prolong the life of structural component thereof.
The suspension insulator comprises an insulation skirt part 1 made of quenched glass or porcelain having a bottom surface on which a pin 3 is fixed by a fixing agent 4 of cement base, a sacrifice ring made of zinc contacting the fixing agent and surrounding the pin, and a circular faucet 7 made of a conductive material located between the insulation skirt and the sacrifice ring so as to earn a sealing preventing leakage current flowing through the fixing agent. The faucet serves for prevention of the corrosion phenomenon of the pin and the risk of explosion of the insulator.
