To provide a suspension mechanism of an electric vehicle capable of arranging a shock absorber without increasing a space in the height direction of a vehicle, even when an in-wheel motor is disposed so as to project on the car body side of a wheel.
This suspension mechanism comprises the in-wheel motor 11, a lower arm 6 of which one end is joined to the lower part of the in-wheel motor 11 and the other end is journaled to the car body side, an upper arm 3 of which one end is joined to the upper part of the in-wheel motor 11 and the other end is journaled to the car body side, the shock absorber 8 comprising a spring and a damper for damping vertical vibration of the car body of the in-wheel motor 11, and a substantially L-shaped connecting arm 10 bypassing an outside case of the in-wheel motor 11. One end of the substantially L-shaped connecting arm 10 is fixed to a wheel side joint of the lower arm 6, and the shock absorber 8 is laterally disposed between the other end of the arm extending upward and the car body side.
