Abstract:

To obtain the subject composition containing a physiologically active substance in a high content and capable of inhibiting its excessive initial release to realize a stable release rate over a long period by allowing the physiologically active substance and a hydroxynaphthoic acid to coexist.

This sustained release preparation comprises (A) a physiologically active substance or its salt (preferably a physiologically active peptide), (B) a hydroxynaphthoic acid or its salt (preferably 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid) and (C) a biodegradable polymer or its salt (preferably an α-hydroxycarboxylic acid polymer). The objective composition is preferably obtained by mixing and dispersing the component A in an organic solvent solution (for example, a mixture of dichloromethane with ethanol) containing the component B and the compound C and subsequently removing the organic solvent.
