To provide a new suture needle for medical operation which does not require any large amount of investment for its production facility and can make fine positioning work unnecessary and, at the same time, a pipe of which does not come off carelessly and from which no burr occurs, and to provide a method for manufacturing the needle.
The suture needle is provided with a cylindrical section 2 formed in a cylindrical shape and a shank 3 which is inserted into and fixed in the cylindrical section 2. The front end of the needle is sharpened. At the same time, a recessed section 4, which is formed of the inner peripheral surface 2a of the cylindrical section 2 and the end face 3a of the shank 3 and to which the end section of a thread for suture is fixed, is formed at the base-side end of the needle.
