PURPOSE: To protect a series capacitor for power source reactance compensation from an overvoltage in a system wherein the series capacitor and an SVC are connected by suppressing low frequency vibration caused by an exciting rush current when an electric car passes through a section.
CONSTITUTION: This circuit is equipped with a band-pass filter 191 which extracts the low frequency vibration component of a load current and means 192-197, and 20 which generates a command for canceling the low-frequency vibration component extracted by the filter 191 by turning ON and OFF switches 198a and 198b in synchronism with an ignition pulse of the SVC 5 and applies the command to the current control system (input side of an ignition pulse generating circuit 18 of the SVC 5).
