To simplify the shape of a piston of a swash plate compressor, shorten the overall length of the piston and make small the construction of the compressor by introducing such a structure that the swash plate of compressor is detained with the piston using a magnet.
This swash plate compressor is equipped with a rotary shaft 8, a swash plate 10 supported thereby and rotating associated with the rotation of the shaft 8, a piston 16 whose one end abuts to the plate 10 on its oversurface, and a cylinder block 2 provided with a cylinder bore 40 in which the other end of the piston 16 is fitted reciprocatively. On the swash plate 10 and/or piston 16, magnets 14 and 18 are installed, and by their attracting force, the plate 10 is detained with the piston 16.
