To enhance the seizure resistance and abrasion resistance of a sliding surface of a tilt regulating cylinder, and to improve productivity.
A plurality of pistons are circumferentially provided in a cylinder block rotating with a rotary shaft. An apical end of each piston slides along a swash plate and the piston reciprocates, and then the swash plate is supported to a swash plate supporting plate in such a manner as to be able to tilt in relation to the rotary shaft. Furthermore, a swash plate type fluid-pressure rotary machine is equipped with a tilt regulating driving unit 47 for changing a tilt angle of the swash plate. The tilt regulating driving unit 47 includes tilt regulating large-diameter and small-diameter cylinder chambers 42, 43 and a tilt regulating large-diameter and small-diameter pistons which slidably moves in the cylinder chambers 42, 43 and is intended for changing the tilt angle of the swash plate. Surfaces sliding on the tilt regulating piston in inner circumferential surfaces 42a, 43a of the cylinder chambers 42, 43 include quenched portions 48 quenched by using laser light.
