A swing stopping device A is installed between a hanging rod body 2 that hangs and supports a hung member 1 with respect to a fixing part S or the hung member 1, and a fixing part Sa deviated sideway from a base 2b of the hanging rod body 2 on the fixing part S. The device includes: a lower connecting member 7 mounted on the hanging rod body 2 or the hung member 1; an upper connecting member 9 mounted on the fixing part Sa; and a swing stopping rod body 10 connected to the lower connecting member 7 and to the upper connecting member 9. At least one of a lower connecting part between the lower connecting member 7 and the swing stopping rod body 10 and an upper connecting part between the upper connecting member 9 and the swing stopping rod body 10, is provided with an accommodating part F that allows relative movement between the swing stopping rod body 10 and the lower connecting member 7 or the upper connecting member 9 by a commpressional-direction or tensile-direction external force.
