To provide a swing type check valve capable of achieving both improvement in check valve function and prevention of chattering.
A swing type check valve 1 includes a valve case 2 in which a flow path 3 extending from an inlet part 3a to an outlet part 3b is formed, a valve seat 4 provided in the middle of the flow path 3, an arm 5 capable of swinging with a turning shaft 6 provided on an upper side of the valve seat 4 as a center, and a valve element 7 attached to the tip end of the arm 5. The valve element 7 is closed by its own weight. A valve part 7a which abuts on the valve seat 4 is formed at an outer peripheral portion of the valve element 7. The valve element 7 is provided with an expanded part 13 which expands to the outside of the valve element 7 in a radial direction from at least a part of the valve part 7a. A pressure receiving area of the valve element 7, which receives fluid while the valve is opened is made larger than a pressure receiving area of the valve element 7, which receives fluid while the valve is closed.
