To provide a switch device and electronic equipment which are small- sized and easy to operate although a spherical body is used and enable not only planar directional movement but also the switch input of other function to be performed.

A rotating direction detecting device is provided around the spherical body 11 in the equipment case 1 and detects the rotation of the spherical body 11. An arcuate part which is part of the top of the spherical body 11 is exposed in the opening part 12 and an arcuate part which is part of the side of the spherical body 11 is exposed in the opening part 13, so the spherical body 11 can be rotated in an arbitrary direction and its rotational quantity per stroke can be made very large.
