To provide a switched reluctance motor which can be highly efficiently driven, can recover regenerative power and has less torque ripple and vibration, and to provide a drive system of the same.
The switched reluctance motor has a configuration, in which a plurality of rotor units 33a-33d of a rotor 33 each have 2n salient poles, a plurality of stator units 31a-31d of a stator 31 each have 4n magnetic poles which are juxtaposed so that a predetermined gap is formed between respective salient poles of a corresponding rotor unit; first exciting coils 32(A) are wound on each other 4n magnetic poles, in each of the plurality of stator units 31a-31d; second exciting coils 32(B) are wound sequentially on magnetic poles, other than the magnetic poles on which the first exciting coils are wound; and the relative position in a rotating direction between the rotor units 33a-33d and the stator units 31a-31d is set so as to be deviated at a predetermined angle.
