To provide a switch device for a vehicle capable of obtaining an energizing force sufficient for automatic restoration of an operating knob and expanding the applicability of a switch.

The switch device for a vehicle comprises a switch case 1 attached to a handle pipe HP, an operating knob 2 that slides on the surface of the switch case 1, a roller part 3 coupled to the operating knob 2, a contact plate 4 having a fixed contact 4a, a movable contact 3a formed in the roller part 3, and an action ball 5. The switch device switches on/off a prescribed electrical component by causing the fixed contact 4a and the movable contact 3a to come in contact with or separate from each other by operation with the operating knob 2. The energizing force of the action ball 5 is directed to an approximate radial direction b of the handle pipe HP. A sloped portion 3c is provided to restore the position of the operating knob 2 to a first position when the energizing force of the action ball 5 has caused the operating knob 2 to slide from the first position to a second position.
