Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency by connecting the primary winding, i.e., the current detection winding, with the primary winding of a transformer and driving a bipolar transistor trough a current transformer constituting the output of secondary winding, i.e., drive winding, thereby reducing the power loss caused by high on-resistance.
SOLUTION: Emitter-collector of a bipolar transistor 2 is connected in parallel with the cource-drain of an NOSFET 1 subjected to switching drive by the output signal from a pulse width control circuit 7. Primary winding, i.e., the current detection winding Nc, is connected with the primary winding NP of a transformer 3, thus constituting a current transformer 10 for driving the bipolar transistor 2 with the output from the secondary winding, i.e., a drive winding NB. According to the circuitry, the efficiency can be enhanced while ensuring the high speed switching characteristics of MOSFET 1 by reducing the power loss caused by high on-resistance.
