To simplify automation for unloading of a fully wound package and insertion of an empty bobbin, by controlling a turret table so that it returns back to a starting position of winding before a certain winding diameter is obtained after an initial condition is judged to be met.
A distance L1 from a rotation center of a turret table to a rotation center of a contact table is calculated during time between a point of time when a package diameter is D1 and another point of time when the maximum winding diameter reaches Dmax. An actual distance from the rotation center of the turret table 2 to the rotation center of the contact roller 7 is set for the distance obtained. A distance LF is selected so that its value is equal to the distance LS from the rotation center of the turret table 2 at the starting time of winding to the rotation center of the contact roller. When the package diameter reaches a winding diameter set before a thread is switched, the turret table 2 is rotated in a C direction, and take-up of thread is switched from a bobbin 6 mounted to a holder 4 to a bobbin 5 mounted to a holder 3.
