Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a 2,3-diarylquinone having both light response function and electric response function and sufficiently large change in oxidation- reduction potential by a photoreaction.
SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are each an alkyl or CH=CH-CH=CH and form a naphthoquinone ring; R3 and R5 are each H, an alkyl, a trialkylsilyl, cyano, etc.; X1 and X2 are each O, S, N, etc.) such as 2,3-bis(3-thienyl)naphthoquinone. The compound is obtained by reacting a 2,3-dihalogenated quinone of formula II (Y is Br, I or Cl) with an aryl metal compound of formula III [X is O, S, N, etc.; Z is Sn(n-Bu)3, B(OH)2 or MgBr].
