Title:
SYNAPTIC CELL FOR ASSOCIATIVE NETWORK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0346195
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficient ability for incremental learning by storing both bipolar weighted pattern according to an input pulse, obtaining a weighted connection between an input line and an output line, and making a cell to be of high density.

CONSTITUTION: In two quadrant multiplication, a differential voltage is generated according to input voltage pulse. Floating gate FETs 26 and 27 have floating gate elements 28 and 29 respectively, a drain of FET 26 is connected with a current addition line 25, a drain of FET 27 is connected with a current addition line 26, and the electric capacities of the lines 25 and 26 are expressed by capacities 20 and 21. A bipolar weighted pattern is stored in a cell by programming various voltages on elements 28 and 29. A positive weight is defined by storing a higher voltage in the element 28 than a stored voltage in the element 29, and a negative weight is defined in the inverse relation. FETs 26 and 27 cause the current amount directly associated with the stored weight to flow by an input pulse at period tp. As a result, it becomes possible for a neural adding device to generate an excitable connection and a suppressive connection.
