To provide a synchronous permanent magnet motor which has a stator with concentrated windings, and which can significantly reduce cogging torques generated in the motor, reduce noise and vibration, and realize high torque.
This synchronous permanent magnet motor is a buried magnet motor which has a stator made in accordance with concentrated winding specifications and a rotor in which permanent magnets are buried. Two or more layers of permanent magnets 2 are arranged radially each pole. Bridge widths W1, between the ends of the innermost permanent magnets and the outer circumference of the rotor is wider than bridge widths W2 between the ends of the other permanent magnets and the outer circumference of the rotor, and further, relation 1.5W2<W1<2.5W2 is established.
