To provide an on-vehicle television that can separate a synchronization signal reliably and prevents unnecessary noise from being generated on a screen when there are no signal.
A synchronous separation circuit comprises: a horizontal synchronization signal monitoring circuit that estimates a period where a horizontal synchronization signal is generated, and generates a monitoring window; a maximum value detection circuit for detecting the maximum value of a video signal in the monitoring window generated by the horizontal synchronization signal monitoring circuit; the minimum value detection circuit for detecting the minimum value of the video signal in the monitoring window generated by the horizontal synchronization signal monitoring circuit; a subtractor for calculating the difference between the maximum value and the minimum one; and a data comparator that compares the difference value with a given non-signal determination reference value, and outputs a signal for indicating that there is a video signal and that for indicating a non-signal state, when the difference value is not smaller than and smaller than the given non-signal determination reference value, respectively.
