Abstract:
To provide a synthetic chloroplast transit peptide that is useful in the heterologous expression of protein targeted by the chloroplast in a higher plant.SOLUTION: Provided is a nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide encoding a chimeric polypeptide comprising a synthetic chloroplast transit peptide and a polypeptide of interest, when the polynucleotide is expressed in plant cells, the polypeptide of interest being targeted by a chloroplast in the plant cells, the polynucleotide being a first nucleotide sequence encoding the synthetic CPT, each amino acid residue of the synthetic CPT being identical to the amino acid residue at the same position of 3-enolpyruvylshikimate-5-phosphoric acid synthetase (EPSPS), and the nucleic acid molecule comprising a second nucleotide sequence encoding the polypeptide of interest that is operably linked to the first nucleotide sequence in frame.SELECTED DRAWING: None
