Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic desulfurization catalyst with high activity and its manufacturing method and usage.
SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a catalyst consisting of a composite porous body of Si-CO having a specific chemical composition and property or a catalyst with platinum carried by the former catalyst as a carrier or a hydrogenation/desulfurization catalyst for an organic sulfur compound such as thiophene by preparing the described porous body from a sodium silicate and CO compound as a raw material under specific reaction conditions or making the porous body carry platinum as a carrier by an immersion method and further, activating the catalyst by hydrogen reduction are provided. In addition, the hydrogenation/desulfurization method for the organic sulfur compound comprises the steps to bring the organic sulfur compound into contact with hydrogen at 250-500°C in the presence of the above catalysts.
