To provide a method and system for identifying a panel embedding the active or passive component of an electronic device or concealing the specific important component of the fundamental facility of a building in the plenum of the ceiling of the building.

The system which confirms the position of an object concealed by the panel and identifies the object is provided with a transmitter/receiver device which stores the identification information on the object and is embedded in the panel and a scanner device which generates a query signal. The method for identifying the panel includes a step of storing the identification information on the object in the memory of the transmitter/receiver device embedded in the panel, a step of inquiring the transmitter/receiver device by generating the query signal from the scanner device, and a step of comparing the query signal with the identification information on the object stored in the memory. The method also includes a step of generating a detectable output signal when the query signal is coincident with the identification information.
