Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To independently control amounts of a water and an ink to be supplied to a plate cylinder by providing a means for controlling the amounts of the water and the ink to be supplied to the cylinder, and a means for monitoring characteristics of a base plate to change the amount of the water in response to it.
SOLUTION: Amounts of inks adhered to plate cylinders 24, 28 are controlled according to a change of a key position. And, a computer 32 calculates an optical density of an image printed on a base plate 12 via a camera assembly 36, and decides whether an ink level is adequate or not. In the case of an inadequate level, the computer 32 changes the key position. Again, the plate 12 is monitored, and the density is decided. When the optical density of the image is not increased as expected in spite that the key position is changed, the computer 32 judges a balance between the ink and a moistening liquid. When the balance is maintained, supply of the liquid is not changed, while if the balance is not executed, the computer 32 judges an excessively less amount of the liquid, and increases the supply of the liquid to the plates 24, 28. Here, the liquid is a water.
