To provide a contents managing system capable of easily purchasing the file of contents and integrally managing the contents.
The contents are managed by connecting a server for managing contents and a user terminal on a network. A user area is assigned to a client managing file storage for each user. This user terminal is connected through the network to the server of a contents managing company. The client file storage provides a user area usable for preserving the contents by a user, who makes a contract. The user area of this client file storage can be freely used by the user as an area for preserving the contents within the range of a contracted period and contracted capacity. The user can confirms the condition of using the file of contents in his/her own user area and can add, delete or move the file of the contents. Besides, the file of the contents can be purchased and preserved by using this user area.
