PURPOSE: To drive the corresponding knowledge bases without considering the arriving order of messages by adding a correspondence table to a message receiving part to designate the entry of the knowledge base corresponding to each message.
CONSTITUTION: An expert system 2 contains a message receiving part 12 which specifies the knowledge bases 11 corresponding to each message based on a message correspondence table 126 when plural messages are received and transmits the starting signal of the relevant knowledge base to an inference engine 10. Then the engine 10 drives the knowledge base 11 which is specified in response to a message regardless of the message arriving order. Thus the base 11 is required just to describe only the processing procedure for the message to be received. As a result, the system developing efficiency and reliability can be improved together with high independence properties. In addition, it is needed just to register additionally a new knowledge base, if desired, to a message/knowledge base correspondence table 12b without changing other knowledge bases.
