PURPOSE: To clear a memory to designate an optional correction area when a user instruct the clearing instruction of the correction area to clear only the optional correction without affecting a correction program prepared for prevention of malfunctions.
CONSTITUTION: A device 4 includes a nonvolatile memory 2 which can electrically rewrite the change data on the program connected to a one chip microcomputer 1 and an input part 3 which receives the data to be written in the memory 2 from an external device 6. The device 6 contains a controlled system 5 which is controlled by the microcomputer 1. Meanwhile the memory 2 includes the 1st and 2nd correction data areas 7a and 7b, and the memories 8a and 8b which designated the areas 7a and 7b respectively. Then the memory 2 initializes only the memory 8b to designate the area 7b when an initialization signal is received from the device 6 connected to the part 3.
