To provide a system for indicating the remaining amount of energy of a vehicle, and a vehicle key, which enable the checking of information on the remaining amount of the driving energy of the vehicle without the carrying of a special medium even in a place away from the vehicle.
The vehicle key 4 includes a mechanical key 5, and a vehicle key body 6 for housing the mechanical key 5. The vehicle 2 comprises: a remaining amount detection means 12 for detecting the remaining amount of the driving energy stored in the vehicle 2; a storage means 13 for storing remaining amount information indicating the remaining amount of the energy; a key detection means 14 for detecting that the mechanical key 5 is detached from a cylinder 25; and a remaining amount information transmission means 15 for transmitting the remaining amount information to the vehicle key body 6 by noncontact communication, along with the detection. The vehicle key body 6 comprises a remaining amount information acquiring means 43 for acquiring the remaining amount information from the vehicle 2, and an indication means 46 for performing the indication of the remaining amount, associated with the remaining amount of the energy, on the basis of the remaining amount information.
