Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for auxiliary clutch failure detection.SOLUTION: A system and method for auxiliary clutch failure detection determines a difference between a first output power 112 of a powered system 106 when a clutch system 104 is controlled to engage a load 110 and drive the load at a first output of the load and a second output power 114 of the powered system when the clutch system is controlled to drive the load at a larger, second output. A control signal 120 indicative of clutch failure is generated in response to the difference being less than a designated threshold 122. The control signal may be used to implement one or more remedial actions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
