A user inputs the license number of a desired electronic publication to be browsed through the input part 12 of a client terminal 1 and sends it to an electronic publication browsing server 2. The electronic publication browsing server 2 having received the license number retrieves the electronic publication ID corresponding to the received license number from a license table 23 by an electronic publication browsing processing part 24. The electronic publication browsing processing part 24 reads data of the electronic publication with the retrieved electronic publication ID out of an electronic publication storage part 22 and distributes the data of the electronic publication to the client terminal 1. The client terminal 1 stores the downloaded data of the electronic publication in a storage part 13 and then displays the electronic publication at a display part 14.
