To provide a system and a method for controlling the traveling of a traveling body capable of reducing the time loss based on the time required for changing the output even when the output of a power source to supply power to a power supply line is changed to the output with which the traveling body can travel.
The system for controlling the traveling of the traveling body comprises a traveling body 20 traveling on a traveling track 11 with an article mounted thereon, a power supply line 18 installed along the traveling track 11, a power source 19 for supplying the high frequency current to the power supply line 18, a power supply mechanism for performing the non-contact power supply of the high frequency current to the traveling body, an article conveying means 12 for conveying an article W, an article detection means 13 for detecting presence/absence of the article W in the article conveying means, and a control means 26 for controlling the traveling of the traveling body based on the conveying instruction. The control means controls the power source 19 so as to change the output of the power source 19 from the power-saving output to the normal output based on the detection signal before giving the conveying instruction to the traveling body.
