Abstract:

To provide a system and a method for image retrieval, which can efficiently execute image retrieval processing.

If retrieval conditions for an attribute list are inputted through a user interface part 9, a retrieval processing part 10 searches the attribute list stored in an attribute list storage part 7 and outputs attribute information suitable for the retrieval conditions to a display part 11. The attribute information is displayed on the display part 11. Subsequently, if retrieval conditions for similar retrieval are inputted through the user interface part 9, the retrieval processing part 10 searches image data stored in an image information storage part 5 and selects image data that has a set of feature descriptions suitable for the retrieval conditions. Then, the retrieval processing part 10 outputs the image data to the display part 11, and allows the display part 11 to display it.
