Abstract:
To provide a system and a method for effectively forming a loop in a suture before engaging the suture with a tissue.
The system for making a looped suture having a tapered surface includes a base for selectively retaining a portion of the suture, a clamping device for receiving a first end of the suture, a tensioning device for receiving a second end of the suture, a welding assembly constituted to join a first and second sections of the suture to form a loop, and a cutting assembly constituted to form a tapered surface on the first section of the suture.
