To provide a system and method for producing a fertilizer, which can reduce consumption of natural gas by effectively utilizing biomass gasification gas and improve the yield of urea, when urea as fertilizer is produced.
This system 10 for producing a fertilizer includes: a gas reforming apparatus 13 for obtaining a hydrogen (H2)-enriched reformed gas 12 by reforming a natural gas 11 to be supplied; a biomass gasification furnace 23 for obtaining a biomass gasification gas 22 by gasifying biomass 21 to be supplied; a gas purification apparatus 25 for obtaining a purified gas 24 derived from the biomass by purifying the biomass gasification gas 22; an ammonia synthesis apparatus 32 for synthesizing ammonia 31 from the reformed gas 12 and the purified gas 24 derived from the biomass; and a urea synthesis apparatus 42 for producing urea (NH2(CO)NH2) 41 from the obtained ammonia 31 and carbon dioxide (CO2) contained in the off-gas 33 discharged from the ammonia synthesis apparatus 32.
