To obtain an information providing system by which the state of a user terminal is grasped and a session concerning information provided for the user terminal is adequately managed through the session concerning information providing to the user terminal based on the state of the user terminal, which is reported from the user terminal.
A server 100 transmits an authenticating screen for authenticating a user, and a user ID and a password are obtained from a client 400. After the user is authenticated, the server 100 sets a session ID in the first screen 28-1 for providing information as an identifier in order to establish the session 53 and transmits it to the client 400 together with a monitor applet 72. When the client 400 executes transition to the screen 28-2 to be provided, the monitor applet 72 reports an event to the demon 22 of the server 100 by the session 53. The demon 22 initializes session information of the client 400 of a management table 26 and releases the session 53.
