Abstract:
To provide a system and method for reducing the volume of dehydrated sludge in a short time by increasing the drying speed of the dehydrated sludge.
This method for reducing the volume of the dehydrated sludge includes adding an organic solvent having volatility to concentrated muddy water obtained after flocculation and precipitation treatment to dehydrate the organic solvent-mixed muddy water, volatilizing the added organic solvent to accelerate the evaporation of the moisture remaining in the dehydrated sludge and reducing the water content of the dehydrated sludge to reduce the volume of the sludge. As the organic solvent, an alcoholic organic solvent can be used and methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol and 1-propanol are preferable.
