Abstract:
To realize a proper countermeasure for preventing theft.
A theft monitoring system is provided with a car stereo system 20, a navigation system 30 and an ETC (electronic toll collection) device 40 as on-vehicle components, and an engine ECU (electronic control unit) 10 connected communicably to the on-vehicle components. The engine ECU 10 collates an authentication code stored in a nonvolatile memory 24 of, for example, the car stereo system 20 with an authentication code stored in a memory 13 of the engine ECU 10 to allow the operation of the car stereo system 20 on the condition that the individual authentication codes coincide with each other.
