The system for providing article description information comprises a portable radio terminal 10 and a server 20. The article specifying information (in a case, an image obtained by a digital steel camera 13) inputted to an article specifying information input part 11 of the portable radio terminal 10 is transmitted to the server 20 via a data communication part 14. An article description information search part 24 searches a search database 25 based on the received article specifying information. A central control unit 23 extracts corresponding article description information from an article description information database 27 based on the label of the result of search, and transmits the information to the portable radio terminal 10 via the data communication part 21 and/or a conversation part 22. A data display part 15 and/or a conversation part 16 (including a speaker 17) disclose to users the article description information visually and/or in voice.
