To obtain a position recognizing system for easily recognizing his or her own exact position even when it is difficult to recognize his or her own position from a map or a navigation device or a drawing.

A position identifying device 10 is provided with a data holding part for storing position identification data corresponding to a position at which this position identifying device 10 is set and a communicating part for communicating through a radio line 14 with a reader/writer 13. A computer 20 is provided with a display part 22 constituted of a display device for displaying an image and a main body part 24, and constituted so that access can be performed through a network 40 to a data base 30. The data base 30 is constituted of a server connected with the network 40, and stores position related data related with position identification data. The position related data include map data equivalent to an area including a position at which the position recognizing device 10 is set.
