To provide a system for dehalogenating a halogenated organic compound by using a tubular reactor, which is constituted so that it can be avoided that the halogenated organic compound is not supplied to the tubular reactor at a stable flow rate and consequently a reaction is not advanced satisfactorily by the pulsation of a pump and fluctuations of the flow rate.
This system for treating the halogenated organic compound is constituted so that a liquid mixture obtained by mixing the halogenated organic compound with a hydrogen donor or another liquid mixture obtained by furthermore adding a solvent to the liquid mixture is merged/reacted with a sodium dispersion obtained by dispersing particles of metallic sodium in the solvent inside the tubular reactor 6. The tubular reactor is made of a transparent or translucent fluorinated resin so that the inside of the tubular reactor is made observable. It is desirable to cover the surface of the tubular reactor with metal-made covering pipe 62 except the vicinity of a merged part of the liquid mixture with the sodium dispersion and the vicinity of an outlet part. As a result, fluctuations of the flow rate or the generated state of hydrogen gas inside the tubular reactor can be observed visually and an observer can cope rapidly with the insufficient reaction.
