PURPOSE: To provide a system which does not require any independent heat source by heating or cooling a container filled with a hydrogen storage alloy by means of the heat supply source of a moving body, and changing the volume of a room communicated with the container by means of hydrogen emitted.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy container 3 filled with a hydrogen storage alloy MH 1 is provided in a cylinder 1 and a filter 2 for preventing splashing of the hydrogen storage alloy is disposed on the upper portion of the container 3. The cylinder 1 is comprised of a rising cylinder 1a and a base side cylinder 1b and sealed by a seal 5 for preventing gas leaks. When in use as e.g. a hydrogen storage alloy jack which uses the exhaust gas of a car, the cylinder is raised using gears until its jack-up face 4 abuts on a chassis and then the exhaust gas of an engine is supplied into an enclosure 6 using a heat resistant hose 7. The hydrogen storage alloy MH1 is thereby heated and the cylinder 1a is raised by hydrogen emitted so as to jack up the same.
