Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a method and device which make it possible to run an old version and a new version of software of architecture which has a new function by its new version.
CONSTITUTION: This device includes a hardware version register, a device which provides an indication of the version of hardware used to operate a specific version of software, a software version register, a device which provides an indication of the version of software running with the specific version of hardware, a device which compares the version of the hardware with the version of the software, and a device which sets a default and an enabling circuit in the hardware in response to the comparison result so that the version of the software runs correctly with the version of the hardware.
