To provide a system for electronic patient care which has a hub configured to monitor a patient care device.SOLUTION: An electronic patient care system 100 comprises: one or more monitoring clients 1, 4 that can be allocated to individual patients 2 physically closely; and a remote monitoring server 3 that uploads information from several various monitoring clients 1, 4 and downloads information and instructions from various sources to the monitoring clients 1, 4. In a patient's room, a health care provider can interact directly with the monitoring client 1 to obtain information on a patient 2 or to input instructions on the patient 2. Many monitoring clients 1 can interact with a single monitoring server 3. The monitoring server 3 can include middleware.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
